Young/Early-Career Deputy/Assistant Stage Manager

ThirdSpace Theatre is looking for an early-career enthusiastic person to join our team for our production Let It Be A Tale at Brighton Dome this Christmas. We are keen to work with someone who is early in their career in theatre and looking to develop their skills.

ThirdSpace Theatre is committed to making the arts more accessible for children and young people from all backgrounds. We currently run 17 clubs across Brighton, Hove, and Lewes.

We are a growing company and would like to meet people who will work well within our busy team and who share our belief that the arts should be for everyone. 

Job Description

  • This is a freelance, self-employed position. The successful applicant will be responsible for their own National Insurance and HMRC-compliance. Payments will be made gross.
  • You would be working both in our office, in the rehearsal room, and in the theatre.
  • This is an assistant role.
  • You will be working on cues, registers, props, and research.
  • Hours: Broken over part-time work with an immediate start in September until December 22nd.  In-venue days December 18th-22nd.   Office time in the daytime. Rehearsals are Tuesday evenings, Friday evenings, and Saturday afternoons. Candidates will need to confirm that they are completely available for all in-venue days and that they have very good availability for all other times.
  • Pay: £12 per hour (£1,344 total)

Job Requirements

  • Be available from September to December part-time, including full availability on show days
  • Be willing to undertake an enhanced DBS check.
  • Be willing to undergo training in Safeguarding.
  • Be 16 years old or over.

  • Have an interest in the arts / performing arts
  • Be comfortable working with a group of up to 40 young people
  • Have a positive attitude and great energy
  • Be able to work well as part of a team, taking initiative, and working with the team
  • Be committed to diversity & inclusion

  • This will also be a mentoring opportunity for the candidate which can assist you with further employment
