  • Are there free drama clubs in Brighton? Yes – ThirdSpace Theatre runs four completely free drama clubs in high-deprivation areas of Brighton & Hove. We also offer subsidised and pay-what-you-can places across all our clubs for families who need support. No child or young person is turned away due to cost.
  • What age can my child start drama classes with ThirdSpace? Our youngest group starts at age 5. We run clubs for ages 5-8, 8-12, 12-16, and 16-25. ThirdSpace also offers adult classes for ages 18 and over. All young people are welcome to book a free trial before committing.
  • Do children need any experience to join? None at all. Every club welcomes complete beginners. We don’t hold auditions for any of our weekly clubs – just book a free trial and come along. Our tutors are experienced at welcoming nervous or shy children.
  • How much do drama classes cost in Brighton? ThirdSpace’s fees are on a sliding scale depending on what your family can afford. We offer standard rates, subsidised rates, pay-what-you-can, and fully funded free places for those who qualify. Contact us to discuss what works for you.
  • What venues do you use in Brighton and Hove? We run clubs at Hanover Community Centre, Brighton Youth Centre, BHASVIC, Hove Park School, St Luke’s Primary School, West Blatchington Primary, St Mark’s CE Primary, and Fitzherbert Community Hub, among others.
  • Do you run drama holiday clubs in Brighton? Yes – ThirdSpace runs drama holiday clubs during the summer and winter school holidays. We also offer HAF (Holiday Activities and Food) funded places for children who receive free school meals, meaning eligible families can join at no cost.
  • What performances do your students put on? Each term ends with a public performance at venues including Brighton Open Air Theatre (BOAT), The Old Market, and The Lantern Theatre. Our young people’s company also perform in large-scale commissioned and funded professional productions – including at Brighton Dome and Brighton Festival and ACCA, led by our award-winning artistic director, Tanushka Marah.
  • Is ThirdSpace Theatre a registered charity? ThirdSpace Theatre is a Community Interest Company (CIC, registration 11912128) currently converting to Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) status. We are an Associate Company of Brighton Dome and Brighton Festival.
