One brother fights for the West. One brother fights for the East.
Eteocles is praised as a hero. Polynices is condemned as a terrorist.
It is law that no-one must commemorate Polynices. But Antigone refuses to stay silent.
In this bold new youth-led production, this ancient story is reclaimed. Antigone is stubborn, brave, and fiercely loyal. She loves both her brothers — even when the law demands she choose sides.
Against her sister’s warnings, Antigone speaks out, declaring her loyalty and urging others to do the same. Her act of defiance inspires some, enraging those in power to crush her.
She is condemned to death without trial and a chain of tragedies unfolds.
Crashing through the story with satire, music, and bold commentary, the chorus interrupts the action, questions authority, and asks what this story means to us today.
What happens when young people refuse to stay quiet?
Who decides what is justice?
And what does loyalty mean in a divided world?
Rooted in the collaborative spirit of ensemble theatre, this production centres youth voice, their perspective, and agency.
Ancient Greece meets the politics of today in a fearless, energetic retelling which refuses to accept the world as it is.
