In the face of overwhelming odds, a group of friends turn to the Earth for help.
Returning after a developmental performance at ACCA, Earth Teeth will take place in the Studio Theatre as part of Brighton Festival 2025. For two performances only 4th and 5th May.
“Everything is part of a bigger system, everything plays its part. Everything except us.”
Young people possess the power to bring about change but they are born into a world they did not create. Ritual and superstition, myth and chaos. These are the only tools they have when hope is lost. They ask the Earth to listen. But what will the Earth want in return?
Fast-paced, thought-provoking, and darkly humorous; this is a play for our times.
A party. A ritual. A last chance.
When the Earth speaks, will you listen?
“Earth Teeth is a magnificent new play bursting with big ideas, dark humour and apocalyptic menace. It paints a thrilling and shocking picture of how it is to be young in a desperate and dying world. I loved every minute of it.” – Phil Porter, playwright

Audience feedback from ACCA performance 2024
“This play was brilliantly written and performed and really got me thinking about the ground I’m walking on. A brilliant and refreshing show with quirky and imaginative characters. I can’t wait to see this production again … .the writing jumped off the page and into the audience’s teeth!” – Fin Rees, audience member, 18yrs
“So funny and captured teenage banter perfectly. The chorus was so intriguing and made me think about the complex dynamic between young people and the earth. The intertwining of climate protest, shamanism and this ‘other’ path is really fascinating and very plausible. An awakening that the only real way forward for climate justice is for us humans to make our own sacrifices. The build in tension was exceptional, I’ve never experienced that level of minute-to-minute tension in theatre work.” – Mary Darking, audience member
Some quotes from other creatives and young people
“Earth Teeth is a magnificent new play bursting with big ideas, dark humour and apocalyptic menace. It paints a thrilling and shocking picture of how it is to be young in a desperate and dying world. I loved every minute of it.” – Phil Porter, playwright
“Earth Teeth addresses urgent issues in a completely unexpected way. The youth voice is faultless. So many young people have committed to this project and led the way. The mix of hyper realism and ancient chorus work create a unique and immediate performance. I am so happy to be directing this play.” – Tanushka Marah, director / Artistic Director of ThirdSpace Theatre
“Earth Teeth is so relevant to young people’s exasperated attempts to make things right in the world. The characters’ methods are so surreal and otherworldly.” – Rosa Yates, actor in ThirdSpace Theatre
